Our fees differ between Psychologists and the time of the appointment. To find out more about our fees and rebates, please call our clinic.
All Psychologists at Transition Works Psychology are registered with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) and have Medicare provider numbers, enabling you to claim a Medicare rebate for your counselling and group sessions. We unfortunately do not bulk bill for sessions, but you may obtain a subsidized Medicare rebate for your sessions.
We provide you the convenience of claiming private health insurance benefits via HICAPS on the spot at our clinic. You may be eligible to claim psychological services from your Private Health insurer depending on your level of cover. To claim a rebate, you need to ensure that you are covered by ancillary benefits insurance (extras cover).
Accounts are payable on the day of consultation. Cash, Visa and MasterCard are accepted. It is vital that you notify us of a cancellation with 24 hours’ notice. Missed appointments without adequate notice will be charged a full sessional fee.
The fees at Transition Works Psychology vary depending on the Psychologist that you see, and whether your appointment is within business hours or after hours. Please call our clinic on 03 8529 2199 to find out more information about our fees.
*The current APS recommended rate for psychological sessions is $300
Accounts are payable on the day of consultation unless other arrangements have been discussed. We accept cash, VISA and Mastercard. Credit card payments may be made by telephone. In addition, rebates may be available from Medicare or from your private health insurer (where applicable), reducing the out of pocket fee.
We are registered to provide TAC and Worksafe services to clients.

A Medicare rebate may be obtainable under the Better Access to Mental Health Care Program if you are referred by your General Practitioner (GP) with a Mental Health Care Plan. In order to obtain a MHCP, it will be necessary to book a long appointment with your GP to discuss your mental health concerns. Your GP will either give you a hard copy of the plan, or fax it over to your Psychologist along with a letter of referral. Alternatively, you can seek a MHCP from a Psychiatrist or Paediatrician. These documents will entitle you to a Medicare rebate. All you need to do is bring these documents to your first consultation and our team will organise the rest.An initial MHCP allows you to obtain six Medicare rebated sessions. After the initial six sessions a review is required to determine your eligibility for an additional four sessions.
Provided you have a MHCP in place, you will need to pay the full fee at the end of your consultation. We submit an electronic Medicare claim once payment has been made, and the rebated amount is reimbursed back into your nominated bank account. Alternatively, you are welcome to take your invoices and claim your rebate directly from Medicare.
For Psychology sessions in Australia, Medicare offers the following rebates:
•$93.35 for services with a general registered Psychologist.
•$137.05 for services with a registered Clinical Psychologist.

If you use the HICAPS service, you do not need to pay the full consultation fee up-front and wait for the reimbursement (unlike if you choose to take your account to your health fund branch). Once your claim is authorised by your health fund through the HICAPS terminal, you simply pay the gap amount, which is the difference between the full psychology session fee and the rebate your health insurer covers.
You cannot use your private health insurance cover to top up the Medicare rebates for psychological services. If you are eligible for Medicare rebates, then you need to decide which service you will use to cover the payment for psychological services you receive.
